Eyes Set On Rivoni School for the Blind COVID-19 Readiness
[Randburg, Johannesburg-23 June 2020] Transport Education Training Authority (TETA) CEO, Maphefo Anno-Frempong, will visit Rivoni School for the Blind in Limpopo this Friday to support the school’s efforts to comply with COVID-19 health and safety guidelines as set by the Department of Basic Education.
Learners at Rivoni School for the Blind have various needs associated with visual impairment or blindness. The school is special in many ways including that amidst the diverse challenges it has produced between 80 and 100 per cent matric pass rate since 2011.
“How we treat the vulnerable in our communities during challenging times such as these say a lot about the condition of our moral compass as South Africans. Discriminative distribution of scarce resources becomes rife during times of uncertainty. But our standpoint is that the vulnerable need special attention during tough times and it is then important to exhaust all means to protect them”, said TETA CEO Maphefo Anno-Frempong.
Rivoni is one of 54 schools adopted by TETA across the country. These adopted schools enjoy support from TETA in the form of teacher capacitation, learning resources, career guidance and STEM subjects extra classes.Rivoni is one of 54 schools adopted by TETA across the country.
